On Thursday, U.S. President Joe Biden commended President William Ruto for his leadership and decisive intervention in the politically unstable region of Haiti.
President Ruto's visit to the White House is a historic occasion, marking the first state visit to the United States by an African leader in over 15 years.
“We are committed to providing logistics, intelligence, and equipment—some of which has already been delivered. Kenya is reinforcing its police force with support from various nations following suit,” stated President Biden. “The United States will bolster this collective effort with $300 million allocated towards the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission and an additional $60 million earmarked for equipment support. Significant contributions have also been received from other international partners.”
President Biden highlighted their shared commitment: “President Ruto and I both believe that the Haitian people deserve a future defined by peace and security.”
