Nkosinathi Maphumulo, the acclaimed DJ and producer known as Black Coffee, is poised to create history on October 7, 2023, as he becomes the first South African act to headline the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The momentous show will feature a 12-piece orchestra, surprise guest performances, and a spectacular 360-degree stage setup, as stated by Billboard. Black Coffee will be joined by an impressive lineup of South African and international artists, including Major League DJs, Bucie, Msaki, Monique Bingham, Soul Star, Delilah Montagu, Maxine Ashley, Roland Clark, Mr. V, Portia Monique, Zoe Kypri, and WhoMadeWho.
In an Instagram announcement, Black Coffee expressed his excitement, saying, "It has always been one of my greatest dreams to share this music and sound on the grandest stage and introduce it to the widest audience imaginable. My Madison Square Garden debut has been a dream of mine for many years."
Black Coffee's impact in the music industry spans over two decades, during which he has released seven studio albums, garnered numerous accolades, including multiple BET Awards and South African Music Awards, and collaborated with renowned artists such as Drake, Madonna, and David Guetta. In 2022, he achieved a significant milestone by winning his first Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album with his album Subconsciously, making him the first South African artist ever to receive this accolade in the category.
