African Queens, a Jada Pinkett Smith produced Netflix docudrama series was released and it has causing controversy and anger in Egypt for casting Cleopatra as a black woman.
One of the ggovernment owned publication in the country openly showed displeasure with the Netflix and the production company of the series for giving the role to Adele James, a British mixed-race actress.
Other Egyptian academics jumped in the waves as well to state that casting Cleopatra as a black character is historically not accurate.
"Cleopatra was just born in Egypt, but she was Greek and white European in general.", said a historian at one of the highly rated University in the country.
Meanwhile government has announced that it will soon fund a project to start a production of 'True Story' a high level researched documentary on Queen Cleopatra's life.
