Former Flames captain Patrick Mabedi has been named caretaker coach for the team until September this year.
This has been agreed at the Football Association of Malawi - FAM executive committee meeting currently underway in Salima.
Mabedi who also heads the Under 20 national team replaces Mario Marinica whose contract was not renewed due to the senior team's decimal performance under his guidance.
The Flames are expected to participate in this year's COSAFA Cup next month before completing their AFCON qualifying matches against Ethiopia and Guinea in June and September respectively.
