Musawenkosi Donia Saurombe, a Zimbabwean citizen resident in South Africa has made news by becoming the youngest African to hold the position of an Associate Professor in Africa at just 29 years old.
Saurombe made history in 2017 when she became the youngest African to earn a PhD at the age of 23. Her PhD (in Industrial and Organisational Psychology) that year was from North-West University in South Africa.
Immediately after her PhD, she began academic work and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at North-West University from 2017 until she got hired as a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Free State Bloemfontein in 2019.
In 2021, she started working at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) as a Senior Lecturer and most recently, was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor at UJ.
