Ackim Simukonda |
Ackim Simukonda was born on the 7th of April 1954 in Kalulushi, Zambia. He did his secondary school in Kitwe, he caught the music bug and taught himself how to play the guitar.
Ackim was a roadie (a person employed by a touring band of musicians to set up and maintain equipment) for several bands including the Zamrock Band the Witch and eventually he settled in Luanshya where he found a job as an electrician on the mines.
He formed a band with Lazzy Mwape and Kelvin Zimba called the Upstarts where he played lead guitar and sang the lead vocals.
Ackim eventually launched a very successful solo career with hits such as Bamuka Jane and Ichipondo Chandi.
He passed on in 1999 after recording his 5th album Bana bandi
