The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has
reported that at least 73 migrants are believed to have died after their boat
sank on Libyan cost yesterday.
The boat that carried 80 people, was on its way to Europe
shores and it got sank just 46 miles away from Al-Akhyar, a village in capital, Tripoli.
According to the grouping’s website, the Libyan marine team
has retrieved 11 bodies and only seven migrants have survived the tragedy.
Lately, Libya has been reported to be a dominant route for
migrants from Africa and Middle-East that try to search for greener pastures in
Europe.
In 2022 alone, over 1,500 died on their way to Europe, according
to Missing Migrants Project findings.
