Martinez Zogo, a Cameroonian radio presenter and
distinguished journalist was on Sunday, 22nd January, 2023 found dead
after went missing for five days. It is reported that he was abducted by
unidentified assailants outside the police station.
Reports from local media indicate that officers at
Nkol-Nkondi police station heard disturbing noise and when they went to
investigate they found Zogo’s car empty with broken windscreen.
Police report says that the officers spotted a black car
driven away from the crime scene, an incident that made them to conclude that
the journalist was abducted.
Paul Chouta, another government critic journalist was twice
attacked, stabbed and prisoned for two years on political motivated charges.
The late victim of hatred and barbarism, Zogo, was speaking
on air cases of corruption that involve big fishes in government.
Cameroon is one of many African countries where media
personalities complain about press freedom.
