A 31 year old Man of Zambia Compound in Chambeshi has died after he was allegedly clobbered by a team of Police officers at Chambeshi stadium during a tournament between Chambeshi football club and Kabwe warriors.
The man identified as Jacob Mkandawire was later dumped into a Toyota land cruiser belonging to the Zambia polices service.
This was during a tournament at Chambeshi stadium on Sunday last week. Jacob was taken to Chambeshi police station and was locked up.
But he was later released because he sustained internal injuries. Sadly Jacob died due to the excessive injuries he sustained on Sunday.
According to the family, the police have allegedly refused to open a police docket hence the family is now demanding for justice.
Jacob who will be put to rest this week is survived by six children and a wife.
Meanwhile, when contacted Zambia Police Service Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says he will issue a full statement once he receives full details on the matter.
