Thomas Partey & Daniel Amartey |
Ghana's defender Daniel Amartey has admitted that his side's performance against Uruguay in this year's world cup encounter will forever be reminisced with bitterness, regrets and anger.
The star who disclosed to the media that he entered the match with fervor of determination to forbear their rivals any goal, cited that he hates it that the opposite happened.
He said; " I just told my teammates that we needed a goal now but they need a goal now, we have to defend for ourselves so that if we can't go, they don't go."
Ghana perceives Uruguay as a best energy since 2010 when the later frustrated their chances of proceeding to the semifinals.
In that year's encounter, Suarez of Uruguay prevented an apparent goal with a deliberate handball.
Though the black stars were awarded a penalty but their shooter, Asamoah Gian, failed to convert it into a a goal.
Uruguay went on to win the match through post match penalties.
The same fate happened in this year's encounter and Andrew Ayew, the sole survivor of the 2010 squad missed the penalty aswell.
Amartey believes, his team could have progressed to win the match if Ayew had scored the spot kick.
"Its football. It happens. But, the missing of the penalty changed the whole game," he said.
