Next year's Grammy Awards nominations are officially out and multiple African musicians including Burna Boy and Nomcebo Zikode have been listed.
African giant, Burna Boy and Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese supastar are both given nod for Best Global Music Album.
South Africa's Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode, Wouter Kellerman, Uganda's Eddy Kenzo, Nigeria's Burna Boy and Ghana's Rocky Dawuni are nominated for Best Global Music Performance.
Fastest growing artist in Nigeria, Tems has been nominated under two categories,Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance following a vocal skill set she showcased on a her Drake and Future collaboration song titled "Wait For U".
Another category that has given Angelique Kidjo a nod is a Best Song Written For Visual Media. The nomination follows his song "Keep Rising", a sound track to "Woman King" movie.
Afro-Beats is a genre that has been a center of world music for the past 5 years. The latest Grammy Awards nominations have just cemented the this fact.
