The shooting occurred at 1280 W. Peachtree Street, near the intersection of 16th Street, on Monday around 1:46 p.m., according to Atlanta police.
She had shot two people when police arrived at the 40-story 1280 West condo complex. According to police, one individual was found deceased and another was taken to a nearby hospital.
They made a second 911 call at around 2:00 pm, this time stating that there had been a gunshot. At 1100 Peachtree Street this time, it was. A single person was hurt by what seemed to be gunfire when police arrived at the Eleven Hundred Peachtree executive office building. In addition, a nearby hospital received the wounded right away.
We discovered right away that the guy on the watch for both shooters was the same. According to Interim Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, it was a girl who fit the same description as the person who was last seen in the neighbourhood.
As it was suggestive of a potential active shooter situation, “it prompted an urgent response from this department.”
Soon after the incident, police officers from many federal, state, and local agencies descended on Midtown, and a warning was issued encouraging people to stay away from the area and advising locals and workers to take cover.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens
remarked, “APD trains frequently for these types of occurrences.”
Flooded autos are all looking for the suspect in a nearly 100-acre region of Midtown. At Atlanta police headquarters, video analysts and technicians were working on the scene as cops arrived.
The huge camera network we have at our disposal allowed us to rapidly trace down the culprit, according to Dickens.
After receiving information from residents, police were notified right away that the suspect had come onto the campus at Colony Square.
However, Chief Schierbaum said, “we are receiving many reports that gave a scenario that the shooter might still be in the gunman's vicinity or could have fled the area,” which is why a city-wide search was underway.
Police finally found her after searching for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where she was apprehended and handcuffed.
“We dispatched resources there, by those from the city and those from our federal colleagues. The person who we suspect fired shots at both West Peach searching forests was taken into custody a short while later, at around 4 o’clock this afternoon, said Chief Schierbaum.
The woman is pictured handcuffed in front of the TruiTrustk ATMs in the South Terminal in a photo sent to FOX 5 wearing a highly distinctive black-and-white striped blouse and blue pants. After she had fired the last shot, that picture was taken two hours later. In earlier suspect photographs issued by police, the woman was wearing the same clothing and carrying the same rolling luggage.
Dickens stated, “they captured The man before any controlled areas of the airport.”
Police said that officers found and took a firearm believed to have been used in both shootings at the airport.
“We don’t think that these violent crimes were random. The chief stated, “We think these people were probably targets.
Police reported that a second person passed away at the hospital later.
